Amanda CooperDear Bracken Ridge Ward Residents,
With the recent retirement of Carol Cashman, I would like to introduce myself as your new Councillor for Bracken Ridge Ward.
Having grown up locally, I understand the issues facing us in our local area and know how important it is to have good representation in Council. That’s why I am truly honoured to be part of Campbell Newman’s team.
For the past three years, I have worked with Lord Mayor Campbell Newman and Carol Cashman to develop plans for dealing with population growth and the huge pressure this is placing on our city. This experience has given me a real understanding of local government and how strong local representation is important to deal with issues like traffic congestion, drought and town planning.
As your local Councillor, my focus is to plan for the future and deliver real outcomes for our local community. With Campbell Newman, I will work hard to ensure our suburbs benefit from improved bus services and that we finalise the Bracken Ridge and District Neighbourhood Plan to protect the lifestyle and character of our area. I will also make sure there are funds to deal with local roads and dangerous intersections, such as the Telegraph Road railway crossing.
The Bracken Ridge Ward office has moved back to its old location after remedial work was completed last year. The move was a welcome change after being in a relocatable building for over three months. My office has returned to the Neighbourhood Centre, on the corner of Bracken and Barrett Streets, Bracken Ridge.
In the meantime, please feel free to call or visit my office for further information on any Council matter.
With the support of my husband Geoff and our three children: Dominic, Monica and Nicola, I look forward to working for you, to make Bracken Ridge Ward an even better place to live.
Kind regards AMANDA COOPER
