On Saturday and Sunday, the 17th and 18th of November, residents can involve themselves in international cultures, catch the movie “How to eat fried worms” later that night at Enbrook Parkland, then on Sunday celebrate Bald Hills 150th birthday.
Councillor for Bracken Ridge Ward, Amanda Cooper, is excited about the up and coming festivities that all residents will be able to get involved in.
“There are so many different things for people to enjoy and take part in.
“It’s a weekend of festivities with something for everyone to enjoy.
“The Taste of the World festival is going to be a lot of fun and it will be an opportunity to sample many different dishes while enjoying the different performances on show.
“Movies in the Park is always popular and will be no different with the family movie ‘How to eat fried worms’.
“Then on Sunday we can all celebrate Bald Hills 150th birthday,” Cr Cooper said.
The Taste of the World festival will feature exotic dishes and performances from different cultures and will go from 10am until 2pm at John Goss Reserve, Maundrell Terrace at Chermside West.
Movies in the Park will feature the family film ‘How to eat fried worms’, in which a 10 year old Billy, gets into a pickle with a class bully and challenges him to a worm eating competition.
The movie is scheduled for 6pm and runs for a total time of 92 minutes, classified PG.
On Sunday, Bald Hills will celebrate their 150th birthday, with an official opening by the oldest Bald Hills resident, a heritage walking trail, followed by Devonshire tea available at a local Federation style home from 2:30pm.
The celebrations will also feature a fashion parade as well a photographic revealing Bald Hill’s past, then a sausage sizzle and some delicious cake.
“I am really looking forward to a weekend of exotic cultures, catch a free movie and celebrating the birthday of one of Brisbane’s oldest suburbs,” Cr Cooper said.
