ENERGEX upgrade work in Bald Hills

Councillor Amanda Cooper has been advised that ENERGEX is proposing upgrade work in the Bald Hills area.

The Bald Hills substation provides electricity supply to the predominantly residential areas of Bald Hills, Bracken Ridge, Bridgeman Downs and Carseldine.  Due to the increase in electricity consumption, the normal ratings of the existing electricity feeders are expected to be exceeded in the future.

To meet the increased energy requirements, ENERGEX will install a new underground 11kV power cable from the Bald Hills substation in Musgrave Avenue to the existing electricity network.

The benefits of this $527,000 project are that it provides the security reliability and quality of supply to all in the area allowing for future growth and developments.  This new cable will also increase our ability to transfer electricity loads between neighbouring substations, especially as a contingency to restore power as quickly as possible, reducing inconvenience to their customers.

Works are anticipated to commence in February 2008 with the full project estimated to be completed by April 2008.  To ensure public safety, measures such as employing traffic control staff and erecting barriers/fences/signage will be taken where appropriate.

Please find attached a copy of the Community Flyer that will be distributed to the businesses along the route of the works.

ENERGEX advises that they will take all reasonable measures to reduce the inconvenience to the community during this work and will reinstate all work areas.
