The addition of $1.6 million dollars to the Community Grants Program for energy and water conservation is a positive step forward, according to Bracken Ridge Ward Councillor, Amanda Cooper.
The program allows non-profit local communities to obtain funding for arts, community, cultural, historical, sporting and environmental purposes.
Cr Cooper encourages local non-profit groups to apply for of the Council’s Community and Environmental Grants program, as well as the Sustainability Grant.
“All community groups should take advantage of the Lord Mayors Community Sustainability Grant allowed for energy and water saving devices in the new round of grants.
“Devices such as tanks and solar panels can cut costs, as well as be environmentally friendly.
“It is a great opportunity to be environmentally responsible, safer and smarter without a high price tag.
Cr Cooper said grants could go up to $50,000 per group, as long as the application is within the criteria and the group is non-profit.
“I am looking forward to seeing applications that will maintain and improve the sustainability and liveability of our community,” Cr Cooper said.
The closing date for applications is the 17th of September and for further details, visit your local ward office or call 07 3403 8888.
