Senior citizen community groups of the Bracken Ridge Ward are able to apply for the 2007 Senior Citizen Funding Program to assist with social functions.
The grants are available to any community group that benefits or involves seniors, and allows $100 to $500 per group to assist with social events, bus trips and celebrations including Christmas parties
Councillor for Bracken Ridge Ward, Amanda Cooper, said senior community groups should get their application in by the closing date of October 8 to benefit from the funding available.
“The Brisbane City Council is committed to helping older Brisbane residents in the community who may need a hand with an activity or a social event.
“It is important we recognise the many contributions of older residents of Brisbane by allowing some funding to be given for social purposes.
“It is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the older residents in our community,” Cr Cooper said.
Applications should be submitted by October 8th with a response by mid-November.
The applications can also be downloaded from the Council's website www.brisbane.qld.gov.au or picked up at the Ward office.
