Residents are being called upon to donate what they can for the Brisbane City Council’s Homeless Connect, an event dedicated to assisting the homeless in Brisbane City on November 21st.
The previous events brought together Council, State Government, businesses and community groups and provided free services and essential products to homeless people for a day.
Councillor for Bracken Ridge Ward, Amanda Cooper, encourages all residents to donate goods, such as soaps, tissues and toothbrushes as well as other items to help the less fortunate in Brisbane City.
“Homeless Connect provided a one-stop-shop format for the homeless in our city and assisted them in their day to day living,” Cr Cooper said.
Cr Cooper also encourages volunteers, specifically medical professionals of all types, to provide support to the Homeless Connect team on the day.
“The previous two times it has been an invaluable addition in helping the homeless find employment and obtain information on health or legal issues. “I encourage the many caring residents of Bracken Ridge Ward to do what they can in helping those that may not be as fortunate as you or I,” Cr Cooper said.
Goods can be dropped off to the Ward Office by October 19th, where they will be delivered to Brisbane City Hall.
